Our free password generator online creates strong, secure passwords instantly in your browser. Use cryptographically secure random generation to protect your accounts from hackers and data breaches.
A strong password should be at least 12 characters long and include uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special symbols. Our online password maker lets you customize all these options and shows the strength of your generated password in real-time.
A password generator is a small utility that produces random credentials you can use for website accounts, Wi-Fi networks, apps, and databases. Instead of reusing a word you can remember, it pulls characters from a cryptographically secure source so the result is unpredictable. Our free password generator runs entirely in your browser using the Web Crypto API (crypto.getRandomValues), which means the characters are created on your device and never leave it. You choose the length and which character groups to include, and the tool shows a live strength meter as you go.
Use it every time you create a new account, rotate a credential after a data breach, or share access with a colleague. Reused passwords are the number-one cause of account takeover: if one site is breached, every other site with the same password is exposed. A unique random string per service contains the damage. It is also handy for generating API keys, Wi-Fi passphrases, and test fixtures while developing.
Browsers and operating systems ship basic generators, and dedicated desktop apps add sync and auditing. The advantage of an online generator like ours is zero install and zero account: you open the page, get a strong string, and close it. For developers, the same randomness concept appears in our UUID generator and Base64 tool. Pair it with a QR code generator if you need to transfer a code to a phone.
Everything is computed on your device with the Web Crypto API. Nothing is sent to a server, so even we cannot see the passwords you create. Because there is no network request, the tool also works offline once the page is loaded. For extra safety on shared computers, clear the clipboard after pasting.
Behind the scenes the tool calls crypto.getRandomValues, a function browsers expose only to code that runs on a secure origin. It draws from the operating system's entropy pool โ mouse movement, disk timing, and hardware noise โ and turns it into numbers an attacker cannot predict. Unlike Math.random(), which is fast but not secure, this source is suitable for secrets. The strength meter estimates entropy in bits: a 12-character mix of all four groups lands well above the 60-bit mark that security guides consider strong.
When you must hand a credential to a teammate, generate a fresh random password for that account, share it over an encrypted channel, and rotate it afterward. Never reuse your personal password as a shared one. For one-time codes, a QR code can move a value to a phone without typing it, and a UUID works well as a temporary token.
Is this password generator really free?
Yes. It is completely free to use with no account, no usage limit, and no watermark. Open the page and generate as many passwords as you need.
How random are the passwords?
Passwords are built with the browser's Web Crypto API (crypto.getRandomValues), a cryptographically secure random number generator. The output is unpredictable and suitable for real accounts.
Do you store or upload my passwords?
No. Generation happens entirely in your browser. The characters never leave your device and we never receive them, so there is nothing to log or store.
What length should a secure password be?
Use at least 12 characters for everyday accounts and 16 or more for email, banking, or admin logins. Longer random passwords resist both guessing and brute-force attacks.
Can I generate a passphrase instead of a password?
This tool focuses on random character strings. For a master password, combine four or more unrelated words into a long passphrase; for normal accounts the generated strings above are stronger and easier to manage with a password manager.
Should I include symbols?
Include symbols when the service allows them, since they raise entropy. If a site blocks symbols, a longer length with letters and numbers is still strong.
How do I copy a generated password?
Click the Copy button next to the password field. It is written to your clipboard. Paste it (Ctrl/Cmd+V) into the sign-up or change-password form, then clear the clipboard afterwards.
Is it safe on public Wi-Fi?
Yes. Because no password data is transmitted, public networks cannot intercept it. The page still benefits from being served over HTTPS like any other site.
Can I use it offline?
Once the page has loaded, generation needs no network connection. You can disconnect and still create passwords.
What is the difference from a password manager?
A password manager stores and autofills credentials; a generator only creates them. Use this generator to make strong strings, then save them in a manager so you do not have to memorize them.
How do I remember many passwords?
You should not try. Generate a unique password for each site and keep them in a password manager. The only secret to memorize is your manager's master passphrase.
Can I create several passwords at once?
Click Generate repeatedly, or change a setting and generate again, to produce as many distinct passwords as you like. Each click yields a new random result.
